Where does our data go when its stolen? – The Wall Street Journal
DUBLIN – Many of us have had our data exposed in one of the numerous high-profile data breaches that have hit major companies in the last few years. But what actually happens to the information that gets stolen? Where does it go and who ends up using it? This article answers these questions – and the answers are scary. To me, this article highlights the importance of good online security – two-step authentication (using apps or a USB key), good passwords – and the importance of monitoring your bank accounts and information as much as possible. Perhaps this year's holiday gift to yourself should be a subscription to a good password manager and a USB 2FA key (Yubico makes good ones). – Felicity Duncan
