In terms of a replacement, should the show continue at all, money seems to be on self confessed petrol-head Chris Evans who has appeared on Top Gear in the past. He also happens to have one of the most coveted car collections of all time, including a GBP 12mil Ferrari 250 GTO. Steve Coogan has also had his name thrown in the hat. Either way, Top Gear will never be the same again. MD

The BBC announced Wednesday that it was dropping one of its most popular presenters, “Top Gear” host Jeremy Clarkson, after he verbally and physically attacked a producer.
“It is with great regret that I have told Jeremy Clarkson today that the BBC will not be renewing his contract,” BBC Director-General Tony Hall said, two weeks after the presenter was suspended from the hit motoring show.
His contract expires at the end of this month.
