๐Ÿ”’ May takes Brexit plan to the public, hoping for approval

By Felicity Duncan

UK prime minister Theresa May is having an eventful November. After finally securing a tentative Brexit deal with the EU, May faced a botched leadership challenge and a deluge of criticism from within her party and without. But she is forging ahead, taking her Brexit plans directly to the public in the hopes that popular approval of the deal will help ease its way through Parliament.

May still faces a tough challenge. She has to bring recalcitrant Tory lawmakers on board and, most likely, also win over at least some Labour and DUP MPs. Itโ€™s a tall order. But it looks like there is a real possibility that a Brexit deal is finally in the offing. Or at least, a deal to negotiate a deal, as this deal maintains the status quo for another two years while the EU and the UK continue to thrash out trade and security agreements. Itโ€™s not perfect, but itโ€™s the deal we have.
