Full membership of the Wall Street Journal is a big benefit of the BizNews Premium offering. Yet data shows us less than one in five members actually use it. Those who do tell us it’s amazing – in our recent SurveyMonkey poll many threatened to cancel if we ended the partnership. Others say they gave up after not being able to access it.

The tech has been an issue for most of the past three years. So, with the WSJ contract coming up for renewal, we took another deep dive into the back end with our New York partners. It made no sense that we were the only one of their global partners whose community experienced such problems. These renewed efforts have been rewarded.

The solution is deceptively simple. On BizNews Premium, subscribers may select any password they want. For wsj.com and its App, however, specific guidelines apply: a minimum of 5 and maximum of 15 characters in a combination including at least one letter and one number; and NO special characters.
So a password like alec@123 which works fine on BizNews Premium – will not do so on WSJ.com. However, alec123 works perfectly on both. The only other requirement for a smooth journey is for our members log into wsj.com at least once a month via BizNews Premium – that ensures those taking advantage of the low price point are genuine members of our community.
