🔒 Alec Hogg: BizNews aligns closer to ‘on demand’

At BizNews, we’re never quite the same after returning from holidays. Freedom from prescribed schedules tends to unlock creative juices. Which is a very good thing when your living is made in a rapidly transforming sector like media.

We’ve turbocharged our Podcasting activities this year, with, in particular, Jackie Cameron spending much of her day recording topical chats with interesting people. It’s working. BizNews Radio has become one of three locally-produced regulars on Spotify’s Top 10 News and Politics podcasts for SA listeners (above).

The explosion in podcasts and streaming services like Netflix reflects a global swing from “by appointment” to “on demand” media consumption. To more closely align ourselves with this megatrend, we’ve moved to more flexible scheduling of our popular webinars, the only exception our last-Tuesday-of-the-month Share Portfolio update.

The previously rigid schedule of noontime webinars on Mondays (me), Thursdays (Tim Modise) and Fridays (Jackie), has switched to as-and-when. So look out for our more spontaneous fare focusing on topicality, abandoning rote. And we’ll eliminate all FOMO by giving you plenty of notice ahead of each event.
