The fall of Syria's brutal dictator Bashar al-Assad marks a pivotal moment in Middle Eastern geopolitics. While Assad's ousting ends a regime responsible for immense suffering, the rise of Hayat Tahrir al-Sham, a group labelled as terrorist by the US and others, raises concerns about stability. Yet, Assad's fall weakens Russian and Iranian influence, highlighting regional shifts. Post-Assad Syria offers uncertainty, but also hope for a break from decades of repression.
