Effort and rest – the real secret to achieving supremacy
“All life is based on the consumption of energy to achieve supremacy, and then rest to recover the energy before beginning again the struggle for supremacy
By Alec Hogg
Being back in the beautiful Midlands reminds me of a dream to become the next Federico Tesio, the greatest racehorse breeder of all time.
Working with modest resources, Tesio-bred racehorses won every imaginable honour, his stallions creating global dynasties. The former Italian Cavalry officer observed closely, researched widely and thought deeply. And was always most comfortable acting against convention.
His wisdom is still with us through many wonderful insights. My favourite: "All life is based on the consumption of energy to achieve supremacy, and then rest to recover the energy before beginning again the struggle for supremacy." Effort and recovery. You can't have one without the other.
