Global traders irked by low volatility – not exactly an issue for SA

The craziness infecting South African politics seems to have spread to its stocks.

At lunchtime today, our Biznews Premium subscribers will be joining me for the live monthly webinar updating the SA Champions portfolio. So I've been doing some research into reasons behind the latest performance.

Good news is the portfolio is now breaking nicely into profit after costs. What baffles me though is that of the right stocks owned we've had three big winners and one big loser – all these moves since January being in the 20% plus region.

Traders in global stock markets complain about the low volatility. That's not something South Africans bother themselves with. As real estate doyen Lew Geffen articulates on our site this morning, volatile share prices is the least of SA's worries right now.
