Here’s your best defence against SA’s scary roller coaster ride
Living in South Africa often feels like being on the Roller Coaster at Ratanga Junction. Even to the point that you can identify with those 16 terrified people who needed rescuing in January after being stuck at the Cobra's highest point.
Although grumbles about growing corruption and general misrule have grown, with the exception of the admirable Public Protector, until very recently there was little obvious resistance to the Zuma Administration's poor leadership. But now that the two key civil society action groups – churches and students – have entered the fray, the future suddenly looks a lot less certain.
Human beings rarely thrive under unpredictability. It's true that 80% of the stuff we worry about never happens. But that will never stop us doing so. The best defence is to redouble efforts to invest in yourself. The world has rarely been more inviting than right now to those with skills that help build economies. And never before has mankind been more geographically mobile.

We can only hope the new signs of resistance grow and are not a transient flash of optimistic but pointless clutching at straws. Murphy and my own recent experience says just when you think things can't get worse they promptly do. Plan for the worse and hope for the best!

Yes, indeed the students and Churches have entered the fray and when it's like that, one needs to keep an eye on the upcoming reaction from the government and the ruling party.
Very soon we will be engaged in the National Local Elections and it is clear that the father won't be getting the usual larger than life meat than the rest of the family as it usually happens. What will happen is that the father of the nation will be forced to share his larger meat with the rest of the family as the Economy shrinks further, Electricity becoming more and more Expensive, the strength of the Rand is diminishing on a daily rate and corruption is spreading like wild fire.
Furthermore, the nation is pregnant with dual citizenship and also the steel shacks are mushrooming. You see Sir, once you give people houses without any form of subsistence, that is what is occurring, that is, those people sell or rent those RDP Houses and go and erect another shack somewhere and throw stones and the government will come and build another house for you, that is the perception which is being created now.
Right, we all agree that President Mandela was not perfect but he did not need riot Police to diffuse any gathering by his people.
For me, the writing is on the wall, we are heading towards another Administration which will precede No.1 Circus.
