A footballing investment lesson; past doesn’t guarantee future success

Any time you read investment disclosures, you are probably going to come across the often-repeated phrase, “past performance is no guarantee of future results.”

It seems the same can be applied in the world of sport given Germany, 2014 Soccer World Cup winners, were knocked out of the competition in the group phase this week.

And they aren’t alone, the same happened to Spain in 2014, Italy in 2010 and France in 2002, after they’d won the competition four years prior.

It’s also a lesson that the expected 3.4 billion viewers of the tournament (half the world’s population) can take to any decision.
