(Bloomberg) – Greek Finance Minister Yanis Varoufakis, said he was quitting his post hours after his government triumphed in a referendum rejecting further austerity, saying his presence would hamper aid talks.
āSoon after the announcement of the referendum results, I was made aware of a certain preference by some European participants, and assorted āpartnersā for my āabsenceā from its meetings: an idea that the prime minister judged to be potentially helpful to him in reaching an agreement,ā he wrote on his personal blog. āFor this reason I am leaving the Ministry of Finance today.ā
