Plan for the worst, expect the best but don’t rely on miracles

A Cape Town official said the city is ‘waiting on a miracle’ as the worst drought in 100 years takes hold.

And with residents bracing themselves for level four restrictions, the city may find itself with a very different bucket system in place.

But the city sits on some big untapped aquifers, and desalination plants are widely used in desert regions such as Israel and the Middle East.

So while one can never foresee the future, relying on miracles shouldn’t be part of the solution. It’s best to plan for the worst possible outcome.
