Mailbox: Gold vs Biotech – ingenuity trumps the yellow metal

Following Alec Hogg’s newsletter which played gold up against human ingenuity, the director of Brenthurst Wealth Magnus Heystek sent some startling facts. He compares the returns of gold and the biotech sector in the United States and the results are very one-sided.

Hi Alec

Nothing typifies human ingenuity more than the biotech sector in the United States where some of the smartest brains in the world are coming up with cures for cancer, dementia, Alzheimer’s and a wide range of illnesses. As you are aware I have been recommending Biotech for several years now. And it’s also been a great investment: doing good and making shareholders extremely rich in the process, including one South African-born medical doctor Dr. Patrick Soon-Shiong. Coincidentally, he is the world’s richest doctor worth about $12 billion. Look at the following comparison: gold shares have lost you money while Biotech has returned eye-watering 625%! Thought you might find this interesting.

All the best,

Magnus Heystek
