(Bloomberg) — Jeremy Clarkson will be fired as the host of the British Broadcasting Corp.’s “Top Gear” television program, the Daily Telegraph reported, without saying where it got the information.
The BBC decided to fire Clarkson after an internal investigation found he attacked a producer of the program for 30 seconds after verbally abusing him for 20 minutes, the Telegraph said. The broadcaster said March 10 it had suspended Clarkson following what it called a “fracas” with a producer.
Tony Hall, the BBC’s director-general, is expected to announce the decision Wednesday, the newspaper said.
BBC Worldwide in its 2013-2014 financial report listed “Top Gear” as one of its most important shows, both in the U.K. and abroad.
