Riveting viewing: UK supports Greece, “lead the way” to kill Euro

Whatever you think of UKIP leader Nigel Farage, watching him in this address to the European Parliament is riveting. An emotional Farage urges Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras to lead his people out of the Eurozone. Of course it will be tough, he says, but the sacrifices will be worth it. From this video it’s easy to see why the UKIP gathered so many British votes. Bashing globalisation is a popular theme right now. But there is an obvious question only the rational are asking. If it’s such a good idea for Greece to leave the EU, why are so many other countries – Turkey, Croatia, Serbia, Macedonia, Iceland and others – trying so hard to get in? The short answer: Countries get a lot richer when following disciplines required inside the Zone compared with those applying short-term fixes that harvest votes but kill economies. – Alec Hogg
