Here’s what we know about Bloisi:

WHO IS HE?

Bloisi, 47, is a Brazilian entrepreneur who holds a degree in Computer Science from the State University of Campinas (UNICAMP) and an MBA from Getulio Vargas Foundation. His thesis focused on high-growth startups, innovation, and strategy.

CAREER

Bloisi founded Movile in 1998, aged 21, and was CEO of the mobile technology firm till 2020. In March 2020, he was appointed as president of Movile, a position he currently holds, according to his LinkedIn profile.

In 2013, he bought iFood when it was a 20-person startup. He has since grown it rapidly and profitably to become Latin America’s leading food delivery company.

Prosus has invested in Movile, which owns iFood, for about 15 years. Prosus first invested in iFood through Movile in 2013, entering the food delivery sector with a $2 million investment in the company.

In 2022, it bought the final 33% stake in iFood, which has over 5,000 employees, 350,000 partner restaurants and serves over 96 million orders per month, to make it a wholly-owned subsidiary.

Prosus says Bloisi has a track record as an entrepreneur and innovator with deep roots in operating, building and scaling world-class technology companies within growth markets.

WHAT’S THE PLAN?

Prosus said the group’s strategic goals remain unchanged, adding it is on track to deliver on e-commerce profitability in the second half of its 2024 financial year and continue its open-ended share repurchase programme.

Bloisi told investors on a call that his experience in food delivery would benefit the company’s growth strategy in the sector.
