Politicking hits home; JSE trading volumes dwindle

By Stuart Lowman

Trading volumes on the Johannesburg Stock Exchange are at rock bottom with Monday seeing the lowest number since January 2, according to data compiled by Bloomberg.

JSE logoVolumes have ‘dwindled amid uncertainty about the ruling party’s policies on land and mining’ ahead of next year’s election.

Abraham Lincoln famously said: “You can fool all the people some of the time and some of the people all the time, but you cannot fool all the people all the time.”

It might be time for the ANC to shift thinking to economic realities rather than political ideologies before the uncertainty ripples spread too far.
