Our upgraded data pages – check out JSE Share Price Action

In The Sun Also Rises, Ernest Hemingway describes how a man goes bankrupt – gradually, then suddenly. I’ve found it to be the same cycle when growing a business. One progresses gradually and then with a surge that takes time to digest. Today is one of those “suddenly” moments for Biznews.

Thanks to the sponsorship of IG Markets, we’re now able to offer the most usable JSE data information you’ll find anywhere. Our individual company, indices, director’s trading and easy-to-read SENS section with its 13 year archive are really popular. But as a start-up, we were hamstrung by the JSE’s data licensing costs. Thanks to IG’s sponsorship, we’ve now expanded our licence to include end-of-day prices – and with it has come the launch of our new through-the-day Price Gainers and Losers section.

I’ve always loved and used Sharenet’s Major Moves page which, at a glance, provided the 20 biggest percentage winners and losers through the day. The challenge to our partners at Profile Data was to improve on that. Design something that will be good enough to make me switch. I think they have. It goes live this morning and is housed under a tab called JSE Share Price Action which provides a full list of every JSE share price which has changed, in order of percentage move. Click on the name of the share and it brings up that counter’s graph at the top of the page. I love it. Give it a try. Am sure you will too.

Gradually, then suddenly. Be assured, at Biznews.com there’s plenty more where that one came from. If there weren’t, how would we keep tap dancing to work?
