Alec Hogg jets to Davos this week and I’ll be picking up the newsletter while he focuses on getting some great interviews for our Biznews audience. When he and I discussed the newsletter and its role ahead of this week, it got me thinking a lot about the power of email.
In these days of social media, email may seem like yesterday’s technology. But, as a recent piece in The Wall Street Journal points out, email remains one of the most effective and efficient ways for companies like Biznews to connect with their audience.
As people cut back on the time they spend on social media, email offers us a way to reach out to you directly with news and information that we think you’ll value. It gives us room to share that information – more space than Twitter or Facebook. And it puts you firmly in the driver’s seat. You can choose when to read it and if to read it, and you can respond to us directly.
Since it became a widely popular medium in the 1990s, email has played an important role in human communication. And despite all the new options we have, we still have place in our heart for it.
