Only three months ago, during a round of golf a pal showed me his new Garmin Fenix watch. It uses GPS coordinates and sophisticated software to aid and track performance on the course. At the time he was a 12 handicap.
Last week he shot a level par round, an almost impossible improvement in such a short period. Reason, he says, is the watch which has literally been his game changer. Being able to measure his shots and reflect on documented mistakes helped him rapidly transform from a good to an excellent golfer.
Any business person worth their salt knows if you can’t measure it you can’t manage it. On the other hand, once processes have been installed that make it possible to measure things – and you invest the time in actually doing so – the results can be sensational. Ditto for golf.
