Resources leading the way on stronger JSE All Share Index
The JSE All Share index is trading 0.07% stronger this morning with resources leading the way adding 0.9% whilst Industrials are up 0.1% and Financials down with 2.2%.
In company news FirstRand released full year results showing a 21% growth in normalised earnings, a dividend increase of 28% to 174 cents per share and normalised return on equity of 24.2%.
The rand was trading weaker against the majors at 10.88 to the dollar, 14.00 to the Euro and 17.53 to the British pound.
Looking at commodities, gold is trading at $1255/oz, platinum at $1389/oz and brent crude staying below 100 reached yesterday at $99.86 a barrel.
In macro-economic news, local current account data showed a wider than expected deficit amounting to -6.2% of GDP. British manufacturing production month on month figures came in on expectation of 0.3%.
We also look forward to Mark Carney, Bank of England’s Governor, to speak at 12:45 this afternoon.
