Concern in South Africa’s mining industry may grow in the coming weeks as Mineral Resources Minister Mosebenzi Zwane promises the release of a “revolutionary” new Mining Charter.
Apart from his premature call for a bank probe last year, the trust deficit with Zwane remains amid criticism that a draft version of the Mining Charter failed to undergo proper consultation.
Fin24 quote Zwane as saying there’s “nothing to talk about” and that journalists should not “steal the thunder” before the charter is released.
